Kommos, Greece Guide
Kommos, located on the southern coast of Crete, Greece, is primarily known for its significant archaeological site. This ancient Minoan harbor and town offers a fascinating glimpse into the island's rich history, spanning from the Minoan period through the Roman era. While not a bustling city, Kommos provides a tranquil and historically rich experience for visitors interested in archaeology and the natural beauty of Crete. The area surrounding the archaeological site boasts a beautiful, long sandy beach, perfect for relaxation and swimming. The relatively undeveloped nature of Kommos contributes to its peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a less crowded and more authentic Cretan experience. Visitors can explore the ancient ruins, enjoy the stunning coastline, and appreciate the slower pace of life in this historically significant region.
