Tower Fall Guide
Tower Fall: A Majestic Cascade Framed by Towering Rock Formations Guide
Tower Fall is a stunning 132-foot waterfall located in the Tower-Roosevelt area of Yellowstone National Park. The waterfall plunges dramatically into the Yellowstone River, framed by unique rock formations known as "towers," which give the falls its name. This picturesque location offers a beautiful and easily accessible glimpse into the park's natural wonders. The "towers" surrounding the waterfall are remnants of volcanic activity and erosion. Over time, the softer rock around the harder, more resistant towers has been worn away by the elements, leaving these distinctive formations standing tall. Tower Fall has been a popular destination for visitors since the early days of Yellowstone National Park, and it continues to be a favorite spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The primary activity at Tower Fall is enjoying the scenic views. A short, paved trail leads from the parking area to an overlook providing a panoramic view of the waterfall and the surrounding canyon. For a closer look, a steeper trail descends partway down the canyon wall, offering a different perspective of the falls. Please note that this lower trail can be strenuous and may be closed due to bear activity or trail conditions.
Transportation
Tower Fall is located along the Grand Loop Road, between Canyon Village and Mammoth Hot Springs. It is easily accessible by car, with a parking area located directly adjacent to the trailhead. Be aware that the parking area can fill up quickly during peak season.
