Allred's: Dining Above the Clouds Guide
Prepare for an unforgettable dining experience at Allred's Restaurant, perched high atop the San Sophia Gondola Station in Telluride. More than just a meal, it's a journey to breathtaking views and refined cuisine. Imagine savoring exquisite dishes while gazing out at the majestic San Juan Mountains – a truly unparalleled setting. Allred's offers a sophisticated ambiance, making it perfect for a special occasion or a memorable evening. Allred's is named after Alred Aames, a miner who struck it rich in the area. While the restaurant itself doesn't have a long, storied history, its location is steeped in Telluride's mining heritage. The San Sophia Gondola, which provides access, connects Telluride to Mountain Village, showcasing the area's transformation from a rugged mining town to a world-class ski resort. The restaurant's design incorporates elements of mountain architecture, blending seamlessly with its stunning natural surroundings. Beyond the views, Allred's boasts a menu focused on contemporary American cuisine with a focus on seasonal ingredients. Expect dishes like elk tenderloin, fresh seafood, and locally sourced produce. The wine list is extensive, featuring selections from around the world. For a truly unique experience, consider arriving just before sunset to witness the mountains bathed in golden light. Reservations are highly recommended, especially during peak season.
