The Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is a 57-acre marine life nature center located on Hutchinson Island in Stuart. This educational and research-oriented facility offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about Florida's diverse coastal ecosystems and the importance of conservation. With interactive exhibits, rescued sea turtles, and a variety of marine life, the Coastal Center provides an engaging and informative experience for all ages. Founded in 1964, the Florida Oceanographic Society has been dedicated to the protection and restoration of Florida's coastal ecosystems for over five decades. The Coastal Center serves as a hub for research, education, and conservation efforts. The center plays a vital role in rescuing and rehabilitating injured sea turtles, educating the public about marine conservation, and conducting research on local marine life. At the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center, you can observe rescued sea turtles in their rehabilitation tanks, learn about the Indian River Lagoon ecosystem, and explore the interactive exhibits in the Oceanographic Exhibit Hall. Take a guided nature walk through the coastal hammock, where you can discover native plants and wildlife. Visit the stingray touch tank and get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures. The Coastal Center also offers educational programs and workshops for children and adults.
