Farm-to-Table Excellence: Experience Sustainable Agriculture at Stone Barns Guide
Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture is more than just a farm; it's a non-profit organization and educational center dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and food systems. Located in Pocantico Hills, just outside of Sleepy Hollow, it offers a unique opportunity to connect with the land, learn about responsible farming practices, and savor the flavors of locally grown, seasonal ingredients. It's a must-visit for food enthusiasts, families, and anyone interested in a more sustainable future. Stone Barns was established in 2004 on the former Rockefeller family estate. The vision was to create a working farm and educational center that would demonstrate and promote ecologically sound farming practices. The center's mission is to increase awareness and improve the health and sustainability of our food system. It has become a leading voice in the farm-to-table movement, inspiring chefs, farmers, and consumers alike. Visitors can participate in a variety of activities, including farm tours, cooking demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. Explore the fields, meet the animals, and learn about the different crops being grown. Dine at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, a renowned restaurant that showcases the farm's bounty in innovative and delicious dishes (reservations highly recommended). The center also hosts seasonal events and festivals throughout the year. The culinary experience is central to Stone Barns, with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients prepared with exceptional skill and creativity.
