Schweitzer Mountain Resort: Where Adventure Meets Breathtaking Views! Guide

Escape to Schweitzer Mountain Resort, a year-round destination offering stunning views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding Selkirk Mountains. In winter, it transforms into a premier ski resort with over 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, catering to all skill levels. But Schweitzer is more than just a winter wonderland; in the summer, it becomes a haven for hikers, mountain bikers, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure and tranquility. Schweitzer's history dates back to the 1960s when a group of local skiers envisioned a world-class ski resort in the area. Through dedication and hard work, they transformed the mountain into the popular destination it is today. Over the years, Schweitzer has expanded its offerings to include summer activities, lodging, and dining options, making it a complete resort experience. The name "Schweitzer" comes from a hermit named "Schweitzer" who lived on the mountain in the early 1900s. Whether you're carving down the slopes in winter or exploring the hiking trails in summer, Schweitzer offers a wide range of activities. In winter, enjoy skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and tubing. In summer, hike or bike the numerous trails, take a scenic chairlift ride, or try your hand at disc golf. The resort also hosts various events throughout the year, including concerts, festivals, and races. For dining, Schweitzer offers several restaurants and cafes, ranging from casual to fine dining, with options to suit every taste. Many feature locally sourced ingredients and regional specialties.
