The Sinclair Dinosaur, a vibrant green Brontosaurus, stands proudly at the edge of town, a quirky and iconic landmark that has greeted travelers for decades. It's a must-see photo opportunity and a fun way to kick off your Rawlins adventure. The Sinclair Dinosaur's history is intertwined with the Sinclair Oil Corporation. In the early 20th century, Sinclair used the Brontosaurus as its mascot, associating the company with the age of dinosaurs and the vast reserves of oil buried beneath the earth. These dinosaurs were placed at Sinclair gas stations across the country, becoming instantly recognizable symbols. While many have disappeared over time, the Rawlins dinosaur remains a beloved and well-maintained example of this classic advertising icon. While you can't climb on the dinosaur (please don't!), snapping a photo with this friendly giant is the main activity. Transportation
The Sinclair Dinosaur is located on the east side of Rawlins, right off of Interstate 80. As you enter Rawlins from the east, you can't miss it! It's easily accessible by car, with plenty of space to pull over and take photos.
