Welcome to Natural Bridges National Monument, a hidden gem in southeastern Utah. This monument protects three magnificent natural bridges carved from sandstone by the forces of water and time: Sipapu, Kachina, and Owachomo. Beyond the bridges, the monument offers stunning canyon views, dark night skies perfect for stargazing, and a glimpse into the ancestral Puebloan culture that once thrived here. The area now known as Natural Bridges National Monument has a rich history. Ancestral Puebloans inhabited the canyons for centuries, leaving behind remnants of their dwellings and rock art. In more recent times, ranchers and prospectors explored the area. The monument was established in 1908, becoming Utah's first National Monument. It was designated as an International Dark Sky Park in 2007, recognizing its exceptional night sky quality. At Natural Bridges National Monument, you can hike to viewpoints overlooking the natural bridges, or descend into the canyons to get a closer look. The Owachomo Bridge is the easiest to access, while Sipapu and Kachina require more strenuous hikes. The monument is also a fantastic place for stargazing. Attend a ranger program to learn about the constellations and planets, or simply find a dark spot and marvel at the Milky Way.
Transportation
Natural Bridges National Monument is accessible by car. * **From Blanding, UT:** Take UT-95 W for approximately 40 miles. The monument entrance will be on your left. * **From Hanksville, UT:** Take UT-95 E for approximately 70 miles. The monument entrance will be on your right. There is no public transportation to Natural Bridges National Monument.
