Double O Arch Guide
Challenge Yourself: Hike to the Majestic Double O Arch Guide
Double O Arch is one of the more remote and challenging arches to reach in Arches National Park, but the reward is well worth the effort. This unique arch features two arches stacked on top of each other, creating a truly awe-inspiring sight. The hike to Double O Arch is not for the faint of heart, involving some scrambling and exposure to heights, but it offers a sense of accomplishment and unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape. Like all the arches in Arches National Park, Double O Arch was formed over millions of years through the relentless forces of erosion. The sandstone fins that characterize the park are gradually worn away by wind and water, eventually creating these incredible natural bridges. The precarious nature of Double O Arch serves as a reminder of the constant geological processes at play. The primary activity at Double O Arch is hiking and enjoying the stunning scenery. The trail is approximately 4.2 miles roundtrip and is rated as difficult. Be prepared for uneven terrain, steep climbs, and some exposure to heights. Sturdy hiking shoes, plenty of water, and sun protection are essential. For those seeking an even greater challenge, the Primitive Trail offers an alternative route back, but it requires even more scrambling and route-finding skills. While there are no specific culinary traditions associated with Double O Arch, Moab offers a variety of dining options to refuel after your hike.
