Trevor Zoo: A Wild Adventure Awaits in Millbrook! Guide
Discover a hidden gem in Millbrook: Trevor Zoo, the only zoo in the United States located on a high school campus! This unique zoo offers a captivating experience for animal lovers of all ages, showcasing a diverse collection of species from around the world. More than just a place to see animals, Trevor Zoo is a living classroom, dedicated to conservation, education, and the well-being of its inhabitants. Founded in 1936 by Frank Trevor, a science teacher at Millbrook School, Trevor Zoo began as a small collection of animals used for educational purposes. Over the years, it has grown into a fully accredited zoo, playing a vital role in conservation efforts and providing hands-on learning opportunities for students. The zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for wildlife and promote responsible stewardship of the environment. At Trevor Zoo, you can observe a variety of animals, including endangered species like the red panda and the lemur. The zoo also features a diverse collection of birds, reptiles, and mammals, all housed in naturalistic habitats. Educational programs and guided tours are available, providing insights into animal behavior, conservation challenges, and the zoo's ongoing research projects. While the zoo doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, the nearby Millbrook village offers a variety of dining options to satisfy your appetite after a day of exploring.
