Zoo Miami, originally known as Crandon Park Zoo, opened on Key Biscayne in 1948. After suffering significant damage from Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the zoo was relocated to its current, much larger location in South Miami-Dade County. Transportation
Zoo Miami is best accessed by car, as it is located in a more suburban area. However, public transportation is available. Metrobus route 252 runs to Zoo Miami from the Dadeland South Metrorail Station. From Dadeland South Station, take bus 252 towards SW 152 St & US 1, and get off at SW 152 St & SW 124 Ave. The zoo is a short walk from the bus stop.
