Transportation
Whitney Portal is located approximately 13 miles west of Lone Pine, California. The easiest way to reach it is by car. From Lone Pine, take Whitney Portal Road west. The road is paved but can be narrow and winding in places. Parking at Whitney Portal is limited, especially during peak season, so arrive early. There is no public transportation directly to Whitney Portal.
