The Alabama Hills are located just west of Lone Pine, California. From Lone Pine, take Whitney Portal Road west. After a short distance, you'll see signs for Movie Road and other access points to the Alabama Hills. The area is best explored by car, preferably with high clearance due to the unpaved roads. Public transportation is not available within the Alabama Hills.
