Belvoir Winery Guide
Belvoir Winery: Where History and Fine Wine Intertwine Guide
Step back in time and raise a glass at Belvoir Winery, a unique destination that blends the allure of winemaking with a fascinating, and slightly spooky, past. More than just a winery, Belvoir is housed in a beautifully restored Odd Fellows Home, offering visitors a chance to sip award-winning wines while exploring a historic landmark. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or simply looking for a memorable experience, Belvoir Winery promises a delightful escape. The story of Belvoir Winery is as rich as its wines. Originally built in 1900 as the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) Home, it served as a sanctuary for widows and orphans. The IOOF was a fraternal order dedicated to benevolence and charity. Over the years, the building fell into disrepair and gained a reputation for being haunted. In 2000, the property was purchased and meticulously renovated, transforming it into the winery you see today. The owners have embraced the building's history, offering ghost tours alongside wine tastings, adding an intriguing layer to the visitor experience. At Belvoir Winery, you can indulge in a variety of activities. Of course, wine tasting is a must! Sample their diverse selection of wines, from crisp whites to robust reds, in the tasting room. Take a guided tour of the winery and learn about the winemaking process, from grape to glass. For the adventurous, embark on a ghost tour and hear chilling tales of the building's past. Belvoir also hosts special events throughout the year, including live music, festivals, and murder mystery dinners. While they don't have a full restaurant, they often have food trucks or offer cheese and charcuterie boards to complement your wine.
