Highlander Park: Lake Wales' Premier Recreational Destination Guide

Highlander Park is Lake Wales' premier recreational destination, offering a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. This sprawling park boasts scenic walking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, a splash pad, and access to Lake Wailes. Whether you're looking for a relaxing stroll, a fun-filled family outing, or a place to enjoy the natural beauty of Central Florida, Highlander Park has something for everyone. While Highlander Park itself doesn't have a long and storied history, it represents the city's commitment to providing quality recreational spaces for its residents and visitors. The park has been developed and expanded over the years to meet the growing needs of the community, and it continues to be a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The park's name, "Highlander," pays homage to the city's Scottish heritage. At Highlander Park, you can enjoy a variety of activities. Take a leisurely walk or bike ride along the paved trails that wind through the park. Let the kids cool off at the splash pad or burn off some energy at the playground. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy it at one of the many picnic tables. For those who enjoy water activities, Lake Wailes offers opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. While there are no specific culinary traditions associated with the park, you can find a variety of restaurants and cafes in nearby downtown Lake Wales.
