The Girdwood Park and Ride is more than just a parking lot; it's your convenient starting point for exploring all that Girdwood and the surrounding Chugach Mountains have to offer. Whether you're planning a day of skiing at Alyeska Resort, hiking scenic trails, or simply exploring the charming town of Girdwood, the Park and Ride provides a hassle-free way to begin your adventure. Leave your car behind and embrace the ease of access to various activities and attractions. While the Park and Ride itself doesn't have a rich history, it plays a vital role in the modern history of Girdwood. As tourism and outdoor recreation have grown in popularity, the Park and Ride has become an essential infrastructure element, helping to manage traffic and provide convenient access to the area's many attractions. It supports the local economy by facilitating tourism and allowing visitors to easily explore the region. The primary activity at the Park and Ride is, of course, parking! However, it also serves as a central hub for accessing various transportation options. From here, you can catch the free shuttle to Alyeska Resort during ski season, connect with local transportation services, or simply begin your walking exploration of Girdwood. It's a great place to gather information about local trails and activities before setting off on your adventure.
