Step Back in Time at Collier Memorial State Park Guide

Collier Memorial State Park, also known as the Logging Museum, offers a unique glimpse into Oregon's rich logging history. Nestled along the scenic Williamson River, this park combines natural beauty with a fascinating collection of historical artifacts, making it a perfect destination for families, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Explore the past while enjoying the tranquility of the Oregon wilderness. The park's centerpiece is its extensive collection of antique logging equipment, showcasing the evolution of the industry from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. You'll find everything from steam-powered locomotives and massive logging trucks to hand tools and vintage photographs. The museum provides a tangible connection to the lives of the men and women who shaped Oregon's timber industry. The park was established in 1947 by Alfred and Eva Collier, who donated their extensive collection of logging equipment and artifacts to the state. Their vision was to preserve the history of logging and educate future generations about its importance to Oregon's economy and culture. Visitors can explore the outdoor museum, hike along the Williamson River, fish for trout, or camp in the park's well-maintained campground. The park also features a reconstructed pioneer village, offering a glimpse into early Oregon life. Special events and demonstrations are held throughout the year, providing opportunities to learn more about logging techniques and pioneer crafts. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition associated with the park itself, nearby Fort Klamath offers local dining options.
