Mossbrae Falls Guide

A Hidden Oasis: Experience the Majesty of Mossbrae Falls Guide

Mossbrae Falls is a breathtaking natural wonder located just outside of Dunsmuir, California. This stunning waterfall cascades down a moss-covered cliff face, creating a truly magical and unforgettable sight. Fed by underground springs, the falls emerge directly from the cliff, creating a unique and ethereal atmosphere. It's a must-see destination for nature lovers and photographers. Unlike many waterfalls that are formed by a single stream or river, Mossbrae Falls is fed by numerous springs that seep out of the surrounding hillside. This unique geological formation creates a wide curtain of water that flows over the moss-covered rocks, creating a lush and vibrant ecosystem. The falls have become increasingly popular in recent years, attracting visitors from all over the world. Visitors can hike to the falls and marvel at their beauty. Please note that access to Mossbrae Falls has changed in recent years. Historically, visitors trespassed on Union Pacific Railroad property to reach the falls, which was dangerous and illegal. Now, there is a designated trail that provides safe and legal access. The trail is approximately 2.2 miles roundtrip and is considered moderately challenging. Remember to wear appropriate footwear and bring water. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition associated with the falls themselves, Dunsmuir offers a variety of dining options where you can enjoy a meal after your hike.
