Vidae Falls Guide
Cascading Beauty: Vidae Falls at Crater Lake Guide
Vidae Falls is a stunning waterfall located along East Rim Drive in Crater Lake National Park. Plunging over 100 feet down a rocky cliff face, the falls are a picturesque sight, especially during the spring and early summer when snowmelt increases the water flow. The falls are easily accessible and offer a refreshing break from exploring the rim of the lake. Vidae Falls, like much of Crater Lake National Park, doesn't have a deeply layered historical narrative in the traditional sense. Its history is intertwined with the natural history of the region, shaped by volcanic activity and glacial processes. The falls are named after Vidae, a character in a Native American legend associated with Crater Lake. Visitors to Vidae Falls can enjoy a short, easy walk to the base of the falls for a closer look. The spray from the falls can be quite refreshing on a warm day. Photography is a popular activity, capturing the beauty of the cascading water against the backdrop of the surrounding forest. The area is also a good spot for a picnic lunch. There are no specific culinary traditions associated with Vidae Falls.
