No Name Pub Guide

Escape the Ordinary: A Quirky Slice of Paradise Guide

Welcome to the No Name Pub, a legendary watering hole nestled in the heart of Big Pine Key. More than just a place to grab a drink and a bite, it's an experience. Step inside and prepare to be amazed by the walls and ceilings completely covered in dollar bills, a tradition started decades ago by patrons looking to leave their mark. The pub exudes a rustic, laid-back charm that perfectly embodies the spirit of the Florida Keys. The No Name Pub's history is as colorful as its decor. Originally opened in 1931 as a general store and bait and tackle shop, it wasn't until the 1940s that it transformed into the pub we know and love today. Legend has it that the name "No Name Pub" came about because the owners couldn't agree on a name, so they simply left it blank on the application. The dollar bill tradition began in the 1950s when patrons started tacking up money to ensure they'd have a drink waiting for them on their next visit. Beyond the unique atmosphere, the No Name Pub offers a menu of classic pub fare with a Keys twist. Enjoy fresh seafood, pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Don't miss their famous smoked fish dip or the conch fritters. Wash it all down with a cold beer or a refreshing cocktail. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition unique to the pub beyond its delicious takes on local favorites, the overall experience of dining amidst the dollar-bill-covered walls is a tradition in itself.
