Namirembe Cathedral, also known as St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe, is the oldest cathedral in Uganda and the provincial cathedral of the Church of Uganda. The history of Namirembe Cathedral dates back to the late 19th century when missionaries from the Church Missionary Society (CMS) arrived in Buganda. The original cathedral, built of reeds and mud, was destroyed by fire. The current cathedral, constructed of brick and tile, was completed in 1919. Transportation
Namirembe Cathedral is easily accessible by public transport. You can take a taxi or a 'matatu' (shared taxi) from the city center. Look for matatus heading towards Namirembe. Many buses also pass near the cathedral. From the city center, you can take a bus heading to Namirembe Road. Ask the conductor to drop you off near the cathedral.
