Loe Beach Guide

Loe Beach: Cornwall's Hidden Gem of Serenity Guide

Escape the bustling crowds and discover the tranquil beauty of Loe Beach, a shingle beach nestled near Truro in Cornwall. Unlike the typical sandy stretches, Loe Beach offers a unique and peaceful experience. Imagine strolling along the shore, the gentle sound of waves lapping against the pebbles, and the stunning views across the Carrick Roads. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing day out, away from the usual tourist hotspots. While swimming isn't recommended due to strong currents and the presence of the Loe Bar (a natural sandbar separating the beach from the sea), Loe Beach is a haven for watersports enthusiasts. You can hire kayaks, paddleboards, or sailing dinghies from the Loe Beach Watersports Centre and explore the calm waters of the Carrick Roads. The sheltered location makes it ideal for beginners and experienced sailors alike. Pack a picnic to enjoy on the beach, or grab a bite to eat at the nearby Loe Beach Cafe. Although Loe Beach doesn't have a specific culinary tradition tied to it, being in Cornwall means you're never far from delicious Cornish pasties! Grab one from a local bakery in Truro before heading to the beach for a truly authentic Cornish experience. The cafe at Loe Beach also offers a selection of light meals and refreshments. Remember to check the tide times before you visit, as the beach can be significantly smaller at high tide.
