Its strategic location made it an ideal spot for a signal station during the Napoleonic Wars, and remnants of these structures can still be seen today. The summit is also home to a whale's jawbone, a quirky and unexpected monument that has become a symbol of the Law. The original jawbone, erected in the 18th century, has been replaced several times due to weathering, with the current one installed in 2008. A climb to the top of North Berwick Law is the main activity, and the views are the reward! Pack a picnic to enjoy at the summit while soaking in the scenery. Transportation
From North Berwick train station, it's approximately a 30-minute walk to the base of North Berwick Law. Follow the signs towards the Law. Alternatively, you can take the 124 or X5 bus from the High Street in North Berwick towards Edinburgh and alight at the Law Road stop. From there, it's a short walk to the start of the trail.
