Escape the crowds and discover the hidden gem that is Cwmtydu Beach, a secluded cove steeped in history and natural beauty. Located a short distance from New Quay, this shingle beach offers a tranquil retreat for those seeking peace and quiet. With its dramatic cliffs, intriguing caves, and fascinating past, Cwmtydu is more than just a beach; it's an adventure waiting to unfold. Cwmtydu's history is intertwined with tales of smugglers who once used the secluded cove to land their illicit goods. The caves that dot the coastline provided ideal hiding places for contraband, adding an air of mystery and intrigue to the area. While the days of smuggling are long gone, the echoes of the past remain, making Cwmtydu a place where history and nature converge. Cwmtydu Beach offers a range of activities for visitors. Explore the caves at low tide (but be mindful of the tides and never enter caves alone). The clear waters are perfect for swimming and paddling, and the beach is a great spot for a picnic. Keep an eye out for seals, which are often spotted basking on the rocks. While there are no specific culinary offerings directly at Cwmtydu Beach, pack your own picnic or head back to New Quay for a variety of dining options.
