The Mousehole Christmas Lights were first established in 1963 by a local artist, Joan Gillchrest. The lights are switched on in mid-December and remain lit until early January, creating a magical backdrop for the Christmas season. The lights are dedicated to the memory of the eight crew members of the Penlee Lifeboat who lost their lives in a heroic rescue attempt in 1981. Transportation
During the Christmas Lights season, parking in Mousehole is extremely limited. It is highly recommended to use the park-and-ride service from Penzance. The First Kernow bus service A1 also runs from Penzance to Mousehole, but expect it to be very busy. From Penzance train station, walk to the bus station to catch the A1 bus.
