Castle Beach Guide
Castle Beach: A Rocky Retreat with Coastal Charm Guide
Discover the unique charm of Castle Beach, a rocky cove nestled beneath Pendennis Castle in Falmouth. Unlike the sandy expanses of Gyllyngvase, Castle Beach offers a more rugged and secluded experience, perfect for exploring rock pools, spotting marine life, and enjoying panoramic views of Falmouth Bay. This beach is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a quieter escape. Castle Beach's history is intertwined with that of Pendennis Castle, a formidable fortress built by Henry VIII in the 16th century to defend the Carrick Roads. The beach served as a landing point for supplies and personnel during the castle's active years. Today, the castle stands as a testament to Cornwall's strategic importance throughout history, and Castle Beach offers a unique perspective on this historical landmark. Castle Beach is ideal for exploring the fascinating world of rock pools. Low tide reveals a diverse ecosystem teeming with crabs, starfish, and other marine creatures. The beach is also a popular spot for snorkeling and diving, with clear waters and interesting underwater formations. For a more relaxed experience, simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views of Pendennis Castle and the surrounding coastline. While there aren't any cafes directly on the beach, you can find refreshments at the nearby Pendennis Castle cafe.
