South Pier Guide
South Pier: Thrills, Views, and Seaside Fun! Guide
Welcome to South Pier, one of Blackpool's iconic piers and a must-visit for anyone seeking classic seaside entertainment. Stretching out into the Irish Sea, South Pier offers a vibrant mix of thrilling rides, traditional arcade games, and stunning panoramic views of the Blackpool coastline. Whether you're a thrill-seeker, a family looking for fun, or simply want to soak up the atmosphere, South Pier has something for everyone. Originally opened in 1893 as the 'South Jetty', it was designed as a more genteel alternative to the North Pier. Over the years, it has evolved into a hub of excitement, adding rides and attractions to cater to a wider audience. While the North Pier retained its Victorian elegance, the South Pier embraced a more modern, amusement-focused approach. It has survived fires and storms, adapting and rebuilding to remain a beloved part of Blackpool's heritage. Get ready for an action-packed day! Brave the adrenaline-pumping rides like the Skycoaster, where you're hoisted high above the pier before swinging out over the sea. Test your skills at the arcade games, try your luck on the prize-winning machines, or enjoy a classic game of bingo. Don't forget to grab some traditional seaside treats like fish and chips, donuts, or an ice cream cone while enjoying the sea breeze and the lively atmosphere. The pier also hosts live entertainment throughout the year, so check the schedule for shows and performances.
