The discovery of a "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster in a box of old books propelled the bookstore to international fame, and reproductions of the iconic poster are now sold worldwide. At Barter Books, you can browse an extensive collection of second-hand books, ranging from classic literature to contemporary fiction, history, and art. Settle into a comfortable armchair by the fire with a good book and a cup of tea from the station buffet. Children will love the model railway that runs around the bookstore. The store also hosts events and readings throughout the year. While Barter Books doesn't have its own culinary offerings beyond the station buffet, Alnwick offers a variety of cafes and restaurants within walking distance.
