Şirince's winemaking tradition is relatively recent, gaining popularity in the late 20th century as a way to diversify the village's economy. While the region isn't known for classic grape varietals, the resourceful locals embraced the abundance of local fruits, creating a distinctive style of sweet and fruity wines. This innovative approach has transformed Şirince into a beloved destination for wine enthusiasts seeking something different and a taste of local culture. Visiting the wine houses is a must-do activity in Şirince. Most offer tasting flights where you can sample a selection of their wines for a small fee. Don't be shy about asking questions; the owners are usually passionate about their craft and happy to share their knowledge. Beyond the tasting, many wine houses also sell bottles to take home as souvenirs. And while you're there, be sure to try some of the local delicacies that pair perfectly with the wines, such as Turkish delight, cheese, and olives. The village is also known for its olive oil, so consider purchasing a bottle to complement your wine collection.
