Transportation
The easiest way to reach Wat Thaton is by hiring a songthaew (red truck taxi) from Thaton town. The ride up the hill is quite steep, so it's not recommended to walk unless you're very fit. You can also rent a motorbike in Thaton and drive up to the temple yourself. To get to Thaton, take a public bus from Chiang Mai's Arcade Bus Station. The journey takes approximately 3-4 hours.
