Kendwa Beach Guide

Sunset Paradise: Relax and Rejuvenate on Kendwa Beach Guide

Kendwa Beach, located on the northwest coast of Zanzibar, is renowned for its pristine white sand, turquoise waters, and vibrant atmosphere. Unlike some other beaches on the island, Kendwa is less affected by tidal changes, making it ideal for swimming and water sports throughout the day. It's a popular destination for both relaxation and adventure, offering a perfect blend of tranquility and excitement. While Zanzibar boasts a rich history influenced by Arab, Persian, and European traders, Kendwa Beach itself is more about the natural beauty and the laid-back beach culture. The area has developed into a popular tourist destination in recent decades, with a range of hotels, resorts, and restaurants catering to different budgets. The focus is on enjoying the sun, sea, and sand, and experiencing the vibrant nightlife that Kendwa is known for. Activities on Kendwa Beach are plentiful. You can swim, sunbathe, snorkel, scuba dive, or take a dhow cruise to nearby islands. Sunset cruises are particularly popular, offering stunning views of the sun setting over the Indian Ocean. Kendwa is also known for its full moon parties, which attract revelers from all over the island. For food lovers, the beach offers a variety of dining options, from fresh seafood barbecues to international cuisine. Don't miss the opportunity to try local Zanzibari dishes like pilau rice, grilled fish, and spiced curries.

Transportation

The most common way to reach Kendwa Beach from Zanzibar City is by taxi or dala-dala (local minibus). Taxis are readily available and offer a more comfortable and direct journey. Dala-dalas are cheaper but can be crowded and less predictable. To take a dala-dala, head to the main dala-dala station in Zanzibar City and look for the one heading towards Nungwi. Ask the driver to drop you off at Kendwa. From there, it's a short walk to the beach.
