Romance on the Water: Discover the Beauty of Love River Guide
The Love River (Ai He) is the heart of Kaohsiung, a scenic waterway that winds its way through the city center. More than just a river, it's a symbol of Kaohsiung's transformation and a popular destination for romantic strolls, leisurely boat rides, and enjoying the vibrant city life. Whether you're looking for a peaceful escape or a lively evening out, the Love River offers something for everyone. In the past, the Love River suffered from pollution and neglect. However, through extensive revitalization efforts, it has been transformed into a clean and beautiful waterway. The riverbanks have been landscaped with parks, walking paths, and cafes, making it a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike. The name "Love River" is said to have originated from a couple who committed suicide in the river, though the true origin remains somewhat mysterious. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities along the Love River. Take a romantic gondola ride, stroll along the illuminated riverbanks at night, or enjoy a meal at one of the many riverside restaurants. The area is particularly beautiful in the evening, when the bridges and buildings are lit up, creating a magical atmosphere. Street performers and artists often entertain visitors, adding to the lively ambiance. Consider visiting the Love River Film Museum to learn more about the history of Taiwanese cinema.
