Piscinas Naturales de Garachico Guide
Swim in Volcanic Beauty: Garachico's Natural Pools Guide
Discover the breathtaking Piscinas Naturales de Garachico, a series of natural swimming pools formed by volcanic lava flows on the northern coast of Tenerife. These unique pools offer a safe and stunning alternative to the open ocean, providing a refreshing and unforgettable swimming experience. The dramatic landscape, sculpted by centuries of volcanic activity, creates a truly remarkable setting for relaxation and exploration. Garachico itself is a town steeped in history. In 1706, a devastating volcanic eruption destroyed much of the original town, including its important port. However, from the ashes rose the natural pools we see today. The lava flow cooled and solidified, creating these unique formations that now attract visitors from around the world. The town rebuilt itself, retaining its charm and resilience, making it a fascinating place to explore alongside the pools. Visitors can enjoy swimming and sunbathing in the crystal-clear waters of the pools. The pools vary in depth, making them suitable for both adults and children. There are also sunbathing areas and nearby cafes and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy the local cuisine. Don't forget to bring your snorkeling gear to explore the underwater world within the pools! While in Garachico, be sure to try some of the local seafood, especially fresh fish grilled with mojo sauce, a Canarian specialty.
