Los Charcos Beach Guide
Los Charcos: Discover Fuerteventura's Natural Swimming Pools Guide
Escape the ordinary and discover the magic of Los Charcos, a series of natural swimming pools carved into the volcanic rock along the coastline near El Cotillo. This unique landscape offers a tranquil and picturesque setting for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the wonders of nature. Unlike typical beaches, Los Charcos provides sheltered pools of crystal-clear water, perfect for families with children or anyone seeking a calm and relaxing swimming experience. Formed by ancient lava flows that have been eroded by the relentless power of the ocean, Los Charcos presents a dramatic and otherworldly landscape. The pools vary in size and depth, offering something for everyone. Some are shallow enough for toddlers to splash around in, while others are deep enough for a refreshing swim. The surrounding rocks provide natural sun loungers, allowing you to soak up the Canarian sunshine in comfort. The main activity at Los Charcos is, of course, swimming and relaxing in the natural pools. Snorkeling is also popular, as the clear waters are home to a variety of marine life. Be sure to bring water shoes, as the rocks can be sharp and slippery. While there aren't restaurants directly on the beach, El Cotillo is just a short drive away, offering a wide range of dining options. Consider packing a picnic to enjoy by the pools for a truly unforgettable experience.
