This isn't your typical sandy beach; instead, it's covered in small, white, coral-like formations that resemble popcorn! The "popcorn" on Popcorn Beach isn't actually popcorn, but rather rhodoliths, a type of calcareous algae that washes ashore. Over time, these algae are shaped by the waves and currents, creating the distinctive popcorn-like appearance. While the beach has always existed, its popularity has surged in recent years thanks to social media, leading to concerns about the removal of the rhodoliths. The main activity at Popcorn Beach is, of course, taking photos! The unique landscape provides a fantastic backdrop for memorable shots. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll along the shore, admiring the unusual formations. Swimming is possible, but the beach is quite rocky, so appropriate footwear is recommended. Transportation
The easiest way to reach Popcorn Beach is by car. From Corralejo, follow the FV-1 road north towards Majanicho. After about 5 kilometers, turn off onto a dirt track leading towards the coast. The beach is a short walk from the parking area. Alternatively, you can take bus line 8 from Corralejo to Majanicho and then walk to the beach (approximately 30 minutes).
