Hallim Park: A Botanical Paradise on Jeju Island Guide

Escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in the vibrant beauty of Hallim Park, a sprawling botanical garden located on the western coast of Jeju Island. This isn't just a park; it's a meticulously curated collection of themed gardens, caves, and folk villages, offering a diverse and captivating experience for nature lovers and curious travelers alike. From exotic plants to volcanic rock formations, Hallim Park showcases the natural wonders of Jeju and beyond. Hallim Park's history began in 1971 when Mr. Jae-am Song, the park's founder, began cultivating the barren sandy land. Through tireless effort and dedication, he transformed the desolate landscape into the lush oasis it is today. The park features a variety of themed gardens, including a subtropical botanical garden, a bonsai garden, a folk village showcasing traditional Jeju life, and even two natural lava caves: Hyeopjae Cave and Ssangyong Cave. These caves, formed by volcanic activity, offer a glimpse into Jeju's geological past. A visit to Hallim Park is a sensory delight. Stroll through the vibrant flower gardens, marvel at the intricate bonsai displays, and explore the depths of the lava caves. Don't miss the opportunity to experience traditional Jeju culture in the folk village, where you can see demonstrations of local crafts and learn about the island's unique heritage. For a taste of Jeju's culinary traditions, try some local snacks available within the park, such as Jeju mandarin orange juice or black pork skewers. The park also hosts seasonal festivals and events, adding an extra layer of excitement to your visit.
