Berlin Falls Guide
A Cascade of Beauty: Berlin Falls Awaits Guide
Witness the dramatic beauty of Berlin Falls, one of the most iconic waterfalls along the Panorama Route in Mpumalanga. Named after the German city of Berlin, this stunning waterfall plunges approximately 80 meters (262 feet) into a deep, emerald-green pool below. The falls are particularly striking after heavy rainfall, when the water cascades down with immense power. The name "Berlin Falls" is believed to have been given by early European settlers who were reminded of their homeland by the surrounding landscape. The falls are part of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, a region renowned for its breathtaking scenery and diverse ecosystem. The distinctive shape of the falls, resembling a giant candle, makes it a popular subject for photographers. While swimming is not permitted in the pool below the falls due to strong currents and potential hazards, there are several viewpoints that offer stunning perspectives. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking and exploring, with numerous trails leading to other scenic spots. The nearby town of Graskop offers a variety of restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a meal or a refreshing drink. Try the local pancakes, a Graskop specialty!
