Transportation
The easiest way to reach Miradouro do Amparo is by car. From Funchal, take the VR1 highway west towards Ribeira Brava and then follow the signs to Ponta do Sol. Once in Ponta do Sol, follow the signs uphill to Miradouro do Amparo. Alternatively, you can take bus number 80 from Funchal to Ponta do Sol. From the bus stop in Ponta do Sol, it's a steep but rewarding walk uphill to the viewpoint.
