Bathe in Paradise: Experience Volcanic Hot Springs at Caldeira Velha Guide

Caldeira Velha, located on São Miguel Island in the Azores, Portugal, is a natural park featuring stunning volcanic hot springs. This lush, tropical paradise offers visitors the unique opportunity to bathe in naturally heated waters surrounded by ferns, waterfalls, and towering trees. It's a truly unforgettable experience that combines relaxation, natural beauty, and a touch of adventure. The area's volcanic activity is responsible for the naturally heated waters that flow into the pools at Caldeira Velha. The water is rich in iron, giving it a distinctive reddish-brown color. The park has been carefully developed to preserve its natural beauty while providing visitors with a comfortable and safe experience. The combination of warm water, lush vegetation, and the sounds of nature creates a truly tranquil and rejuvenating atmosphere. The main activity at Caldeira Velha is, of course, bathing in the hot springs. There are several pools of varying temperatures, allowing visitors to choose the one that suits them best. The park also features walking trails that wind through the surrounding forest, offering stunning views of the landscape. Remember to bring a dark-colored swimsuit, as the iron-rich water can stain lighter fabrics. While there are no restaurants directly within Caldeira Velha, the nearby town of Ribeira Grande offers a variety of dining options, including traditional Azorean cuisine.
