Immerse yourself in the beauty of carefully arranged plants, serene ponds, and traditional Japanese architecture. The Japanese Garden was originally created for the Centennial Exhibition in 1913. It was designed by Count Fritz von Hochberg and Japanese garden specialist Mankichi Arai. Sadly, the garden fell into disrepair after World War I and was further damaged during the floods of 1997. However, it has been painstakingly restored to its former glory, thanks to the efforts of Japanese and Polish experts. The garden now stands as a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange between the two countries. Visitors can wander along winding paths, admiring the carefully selected plants, including azaleas, rhododendrons, and Japanese maples. Cross the iconic wooden bridge over the pond, observe the koi fish swimming below, and listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall. The garden also features traditional Japanese elements such as stone lanterns, pagodas, and a tea house. While there are no specific culinary traditions within the garden itself, you can find refreshments and snacks at nearby cafes in Szczytnicki Park.
Transportation
The Japanese Garden is accessible by public transportation. * **Trams:** Tram lines 1, 2, 4, 10 stop near the park at the "Hala Stulecia" stop. From there, it's a short walk to the garden. * **Buses:** Bus lines 145, 146 also stop near Hala Stulecia.
