An Artist's Haven: Tam-awan Village, Baguio Guide

Step into a world of art and culture at Tam-awan Village, a unique artist village nestled in the hills of Baguio City. This reconstructed indigenous village showcases traditional Ifugao and Kalinga houses, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the Cordillera region. More than just a museum, Tam-awan Village is a living art space where artists create, exhibit, and share their work. Tam-awan Village was established in 1998 by Chanum Foundation, Inc., with the aim of preserving and promoting the indigenous arts and culture of the Cordillera region. The village features traditional houses that were relocated from various parts of the Cordillera, carefully reconstructed to reflect their original design and purpose. The village also serves as a venue for art workshops, cultural performances, and other events that celebrate the region's artistic traditions. Visitors to Tam-awan Village can explore the traditional houses, admire the intricate wood carvings and woven textiles, and learn about the customs and traditions of the Ifugao and Kalinga people. You can also participate in art workshops, watch cultural performances, and purchase unique souvenirs from the village's art gallery. The village also has a restaurant serving traditional Cordilleran cuisine, offering a taste of the region's culinary heritage. Try the *pinikpikan* or *etag* (smoked pork) for an authentic experience.
