Transportation
Road 500 is accessible by car or motorcycle. Be aware that the road is narrow, winding, and has steep inclines. It is not recommended for inexperienced drivers or large vehicles. The road is typically open from late May/early June to October/November, depending on weather conditions. Check the road conditions before you go. From Stavanger, you can drive to Sirdal and then take Road 45 to Lysebotn. Alternatively, you can take a ferry to Lysebotn and then drive up Road 500. There are no public buses that travel the entire length of Road 500.
