Arataki Honey Visitor Centre Guide
Arataki Honey: A Sweet Taste of New Zealand Guide
Welcome to the Arataki Honey Visitor Centre, a must-see destination for anyone visiting Napier and the Hawke's Bay region of New Zealand! More than just a shop, Arataki offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of bees and the art of honey production. Prepare to be amazed by the intricate workings of a beehive, learn about the different types of honey, and, of course, indulge in some delicious tastings. It's an educational and delectable experience for the whole family. Arataki Honey has been a family-owned business for generations, deeply rooted in the Hawke's Bay region. They are committed to sustainable beekeeping practices and producing high-quality honey. The visitor centre showcases the journey of honey from the hive to the jar, highlighting the importance of bees in our ecosystem. You can observe live beehives (safely behind glass, of course!), learn about the different roles of bees within the colony, and understand the process of extracting and processing honey. At Arataki, you can sample a wide variety of honeys, each with its unique flavor profile depending on the flowers the bees have visited. From the classic Manuka honey, known for its medicinal properties, to the delicate clover honey and the rich Rewarewa honey, there's a taste to suit every palate. You can also purchase honey-related products like beeswax candles, skincare items, and even honey-infused beverages. Don't miss the opportunity to take some of this liquid gold home with you as a souvenir or a gift.
