The reserve was proclaimed in 1968 to protect the seal colony and the surrounding environment. Visitors can observe the seals from designated viewing platforms, ensuring minimal disturbance to the animals. Photography is highly encouraged, but remember to bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise! The reserve also offers opportunities for birdwatching, as various seabirds are attracted to the area. Transportation
The most common way to reach Cape Cross is by self-drive. The road is generally well-maintained gravel, suitable for most vehicles, though a 4x4 is recommended for added comfort and safety.
