Rick's Cafe Guide
Play it Again, Casablanca: Step into Movie History at Rick's Cafe Guide
Welcome to Rick's Cafe, a meticulously recreated tribute to the iconic bar from the classic film *Casablanca*. While the original movie wasn't actually filmed in Morocco, this establishment captures the romantic and mysterious atmosphere that made the film so beloved. More than just a restaurant, Rick's Cafe is an immersive experience, transporting you back to the 1940s with its Art Deco design, live piano music, and the lingering scent of intrigue. Rick's Cafe was conceived and brought to life by Kathy Kriger, an American expatriate who was inspired by the film and wanted to create a real-life version in Casablanca. Opened in 2004, the cafe is housed in a beautifully restored traditional Moroccan mansion. Every detail, from the arched doorways to the intricate tilework, has been carefully considered to evoke the spirit of the movie. It's a testament to the enduring power of cinema and the allure of a bygone era. Beyond soaking in the atmosphere, Rick's Cafe offers a full dining experience. Enjoy classic Moroccan cuisine alongside international dishes, all while listening to live piano music that often includes the famous "As Time Goes By." You can also browse the gift shop for *Casablanca*-themed souvenirs. The menu features dishes like tagines, couscous, and fresh seafood, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Morocco. Don't miss the opportunity to try a traditional mint tea, a staple of Moroccan hospitality.
