Takhi Wild Horse Reserve Guide
Witness the Return of the Wild: Takhi Horses at Hustai National Park Guide
Embark on an unforgettable adventure to Hustai National Park, home to the Takhi, also known as Przewalski's horse – the only truly wild horse species in the world. Witnessing these magnificent creatures roaming freely in their natural habitat is a truly awe-inspiring experience. The park also offers stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers. The Takhi was once extinct in the wild, but thanks to a dedicated reintroduction program, they have made a remarkable comeback in Hustai National Park. The park was established in 1993 specifically to protect and reintroduce the Takhi. The success of this program is a testament to the power of conservation efforts. Learning about the history of the Takhi and their journey back from the brink of extinction adds a deeper layer of appreciation to your visit. Visitors to Hustai National Park can participate in guided tours to observe the Takhi horses, as well as other wildlife such as red deer, marmots, and various bird species. The park also offers hiking trails and opportunities for horseback riding. The visitor center provides information about the park's ecosystem and the Takhi reintroduction program. While visiting, consider trying Buuz (steamed dumplings) at a local ger camp near the park entrance for a taste of traditional Mongolian cuisine.
