Attraction Guide: Crococun Zoo, Puerto Morelos, Mexico

Crococun Zoo Guide

Get Up Close and Personal with Crocodiles at Crococun Zoo! Guide

Crococun Zoo offers a unique and interactive wildlife experience just south of Cancun in Puerto Morelos. Unlike traditional zoos, Crococun allows you to get incredibly close to its inhabitants, including hundreds of crocodiles, snakes, monkeys, deer, and various bird species. It's a thrilling and educational adventure for the whole family, providing a hands-on understanding of the local Yucatan wildlife. The zoo was originally established as a crocodile farm in the 1980s, aiming to conserve the local crocodile population. Over time, it evolved into a sanctuary and interactive zoo, rescuing and rehabilitating animals while educating visitors about their importance in the ecosystem. The guided tour provides fascinating insights into the behavior and conservation efforts surrounding these amazing creatures. During your visit, you'll have the opportunity to walk among crocodiles (safely, of course!), feed spider monkeys, hold baby crocodiles, and even interact with deer. The guided tour is highly recommended as it provides valuable information and ensures a safe and engaging experience. After your tour, you can browse the gift shop for souvenirs or grab a bite to eat at the on-site restaurant. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition tied directly to the zoo, you can find typical Yucatecan dishes in nearby Puerto Morelos.
