Xcaret Park Guide
Xcaret: Where Nature, Culture, and Adventure Unite! Guide
Welcome to Xcaret, an eco-archaeological park nestled in the heart of the Riviera Maya! More than just a theme park, Xcaret is a celebration of Mexico's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Prepare to be amazed by underground rivers, vibrant coral reefs, ancient Mayan ruins, and spectacular live performances. It's an immersive experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories. While Xcaret isn't a historical site in the traditional sense, it's built upon land that holds significant Mayan history. The name "Xcaret" itself means "small inlet" in Mayan, and the area was once an important trading center. The park incorporates remnants of Mayan structures and traditions, offering visitors a glimpse into the past. The park's commitment to preserving and showcasing Mayan culture is evident in its recreations of Mayan villages and its nightly cultural show. Xcaret offers a plethora of activities for all ages. Explore the underground rivers by swimming or snorkeling, discover the diverse marine life in the coral reef aquarium, or relax on the beach. For thrill-seekers, there are zip lines and adventure tours. Don't miss the nightly "Xcaret Mexico Espectacular" show, a dazzling display of Mexican music, dance, and folklore. Xcaret also offers a variety of dining options, from casual snacks to gourmet meals, featuring both international and Mexican cuisine. While not a specific culinary tradition tied solely to Xcaret, you'll find delicious Yucatecan specialties like cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork) and sopa de lima (lime soup) available.

From Playa del Carmen, you can take a taxi or a colectivo (shared van) to Xcaret. ADO buses also run regularly from Playa del Carmen and Cancun to Xcaret. The park is well-signed and easily accessible.
