Chiquilá Beach: A Tranquil Escape Before Holbox Guide

Playa Chiquilá, the beach in the small town of Chiquilá, offers a glimpse of the beauty that awaits you on Holbox Island. While often seen as a transit point to the island, Chiquilá's beach has its own charm and provides a peaceful respite before or after your island adventure. The calm, shallow waters and soft sand make it a pleasant spot to relax and soak up the sun. Chiquilá itself is a small fishing village that has grown alongside the increasing popularity of Holbox. The beach, therefore, has always been an integral part of the local community's livelihood and way of life. It's a place where fishermen still bring in their daily catch, and where families gather to enjoy the simple pleasures of the sea. While not as developed as the beaches on Holbox, Playa Chiquilá offers a few simple pleasures. You can swim in the shallow waters, sunbathe on the sand, or simply enjoy the view of Holbox Island in the distance. There are also a few small restaurants and bars along the beach where you can grab a refreshing drink or a bite to eat. It's a great place to unwind and prepare for the island vibes of Holbox.

Transportation

Playa Chiquilá is easily accessible on foot from anywhere in the town of Chiquilá. If you arrive by bus, the beach is a short walk from the bus station. Taxis are also available in Chiquilá, but the town is small enough that you likely won't need one to reach the beach.
