The history of Distillerie Depaz is deeply intertwined with the tragic eruption of Mont Pelée in 1902, which devastated the city of Saint-Pierre. He replanted the sugarcane fields and dedicated himself to producing exceptional rum, honoring his family's legacy and contributing to the revitalization of the region. The volcanic soil, rich in minerals, imparts a distinctive character to the sugarcane, resulting in a rum with unparalleled complexity and flavor. A visit to Distillerie Depaz is a sensory experience. Take a guided tour of the distillery to witness the entire rum-making process, from the crushing of the sugarcane to the aging in oak barrels. Explore the historic buildings and learn about the traditional techniques passed down through generations. Stroll through the beautiful gardens surrounding the distillery, admiring the lush vegetation and the stunning views of Mont Pelée. Of course, no visit is complete without a tasting of Depaz's exquisite rums. Sample different expressions, from the smooth and floral white rum to the rich and complex aged rums.
